The Rise of Solar Energy

Dating back to 1876, William Grylls Adams discovered that when selenium was exposed to sun light, it had the ability to produce electricity. In 1953, a group of three men, Calvin Fuller, Gerald Pearson, and Daryl Chapin discovered the silicon solar cell. With enough cells, they were able to produce enough electricity to run small devices, but it wasn’t until 1956 where solar cells were available to the public. Solar power continued to be a topic of interest and quickly started to develop. Starting in the 70s and on, it became more popular and common. Solar power was becoming available to households, cars, trains and much more. To this day, solar power is still being studied and improved.

BENEFITS

There are several benefits and advantages of solar power. First and foremost, solar power provides clean and pure energy directly from the sun. The sun will always be there which makes it a reliable and renewable source of energy. The use of solar power will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the dependence on fossil fuels and all together the production of pollution. Fossil fuels come from coal and natural gases, which are harmful and are the primary cause of air pollution. Now, solar power homes seem to be more convenient and have many unique features. Initially, it may seem excessive and very expensive, but in long run it will help reduce costs by reducing electric bills. Also, solar panels are built to last for more than 25 years, sometimes longer that a regular roof. The benefits are endless, but these are just some of the very important points.

FUTURE OF SOLAR ENERGY

Where exactly is the future of solar power heading. There are technological breakthroughs happening everyday and solar power is still improving. Within the last few decades solar power has been growing at a very fast paste and is becoming more and more common. Investment within the field have been increasing while the overall cost of solar energy is continuing to decrease. Companies are working towards creating solar panels that are smaller and more natural looking. It is predicted that there will be a promising future for solar power technology in the coming years.

SMC

Here at Shanghai Metal, we are able to provide a selection of different solar power products. We provide products such as solar power brackets as well as the panels that would go along with them.
